Brenna

Dogs have always been a central part of her life. Born and raised in Minnesota, her love for working dogs began early—after reading Stone Fox in fourth grade; she started dog sledding at just 11 years old and was instantly hooked. That passion ultimately helped shape her path into veterinary medicine.

While completing a summer externship for college, her dad suggested she try something adventurous—like Alaska. She quickly fell in love with the state and knew she had to return. She brings with her over 10 years of dog sledding experience and two years working at a dog boarding facility, where she especially enjoyed getting to know each pet as an individual.

At home, she has two retired sled dogs from her family kennel: Katie and Koda. Koda is equal parts awkward teenager and old man, while Katie is forever in her teenage phase—full of sass, very vocal, and perfectly capable of ignoring you when it suits her. Dogs are her favorite animals, and she’s especially drawn to hound like and athletic breeds.

What she values most in veterinary medicine is consistency and individualized care. She believes pets should never be treated as “one of many,” but instead as individuals with unique needs, routines, and comfort levels. Whether that means slowing down, offering a snack, or taking extra time to keep a patient calm, she treats every pet as if they were her own.

Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, baking, playing video games with her younger sister, and spending time with family. She’s most excited to continue growing her technical skills, learning new tips and tricks, and being a supportive part of the veterinary team.
